Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations, attended a meeting of the Council of the Russian Humanitarian Scientific Foundation (RHSF), which took place on March 24, 2016, in Moscow.

Among the participants were V. Fridlyanov, RHSF chairman; Ms. L. Ogorodova, deputy minister of education and science; Yu. Vorotnikov, RHSF vice-chairman and corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS); Yu. Petrov, director of the RAS Institute of Russian History; V. Tishkov, director of the RAS Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology; A. Sokolov, rector of the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire; N. Vyskochil, RHSF deputy director; V. Kondrashin, member of the Council of the Federation and RHSF expert; S. Glazyev, adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and others.

Among the attendees were also Hieromonk Ioann (Kopeikin), pro-rector of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies (CMI), and Hieromonk Afanasy (Mikryukov), CMI staff member.

V. Fridlyanov made a report of the work carried out by the Foundation in 2015. Then the chairmen of the RHSF boards of experts on the scientific areas of their responsibility informed the meeting about the results of expertise on RHSF contest applications made in 2016 and presented reports on the work carried out in the period from 2013 to 2015.

The meeting also discussed current problems involved in the work of the Russian Humanitarian Scientific Foundation.
