Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent a message of greetings to His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem on the commemoration day of his heavenly patron, the Holy Martyr Theophilus of Sebaste. The text of the message is given below.

Your Beatitude,

On the commemoration day of the Holy Martyr Theophilus of Sebaste, your Name Day, I would like most respectfully to extend my cordial greetings to you.

Your Primatial ministry in Jerusalem, the cradle of Christianity, entails great honour and responsibility for preserving and beautifying the holy places, dear to the heart of every Christian.

Being at the helm of the Mother of the Churches, you always take care of numerous pilgrims coming to the territory of the ancient Palestine from various places, including the Russian Church, and devote special attention to the establishment of peace and accord in the Holy Land.

Rejoicing together with the Plenitude of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem on this memorable day, I prayerfully wish good health and spiritual joy to Your Beatitude and prosperity to your blessed flock.

With esteem and love in the Lord,

/+Hilarion/
