Bishop Panteleimon of Orekhovo-Zuyevo meets with representatives of St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee of the Syriac Orthodox Church

On 9 March 2016, Bishop Panteleimonm of Orekhovo-Zuyevo, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry, met with representatives of the St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee of the Syriac Orthodox Church: Mr. Shadi Sarweh, executive manager, and Ms Hala Alhamdeieh, public relations director. They were joined in the meeting that took place at the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR) by hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for Inter-Christian relations; and Ms Margarita Nelyubova, a DECR staff member.

The meeting was held in compliance with the agreement on cooperation in social sphere between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Syriac Orthodox Church reached by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Holiness Patriarch Mar Ignatius Aphrem II during his visit to Moscow last November.

Discussed at the meeting were prospects of cooperation in realization of joint projects in social sphere, including aid to the suffering Christian in Syria in the first place.
