Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk meets with Mayor of Riga

On October 8, 2015, Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), met with the Mayor of Riga Mr. Nil Isakovs, who was in Moscow for a working visit.

Participating in the meeting were also Miguel Palacio of the DECR secretariat for the far abroad, and Mr. Isakovs’ wife Iveta Strautina.

They discussed today’s moral climate in the European Union countries, the social work carried out jointly by the Latvian Orthodox Church and the Riga Dome, the situation of the Russian-speaking people in Latvia and other matters of mutual concern.
