Conference in commemoration of Protopresbyter Vitaly Borovoy takes place in Minsk
On 3 October 2015, an international theological conference on “Spiritual Heritage of Protopresbyter Vitaly Borovoy (1916-2008)” was held at the Minsk Theological Seminary in commemoration of centenary of the birth of this renowned Orthodox priest, a teacher and spiritual leader who was well known all over the world.
The conference began with the requiem service celebrated by Archbishop Guriy of Novogrudok and Slonim together with the ordained guests and teachers of the seminary. After the service a memorial plaque was unveiled.
While opening the conference, Archbishop Guriy read out addresses sent by Metropolitan Pavel of Minsk and Zaslavsk, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, and by Metropolitan Philaret, an honorary Patriarchal Exarch.
Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, deputy chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, read out greetings from the chairman, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.
A video of Protopresbyter Borovoy was shown to the participants. Two plenary sessions were held during which reports were delivered and reminiscences shared.
