On 27 September 2015, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross of the Lord, Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, vice-chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, met with members of a delegation of the Orthodox public organizations of Jordan, who were on a pilgrimage visit to Russia. The delegation was led by Dr. Ihsan Issa Hamarneh, chairman of the Orthodox Educational Society of Jordan.

The meeting took place at the parish house of the Moscow Church of the Resurrection in Uspensky Vrazhek after the Divine Liturgy. Among those who were praying at the service were the guests from Jordan. The participants in the meeting discussed the situation of Christians in the Middle East, prospects of cooperation between the Orthodox public organizations of Russia and Jordan, and various issues of pan-Orthodox importance.

Taking part in the meeting were Hegumen Arseniy (Sokolov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East; Mr. Oleg Fomin, a board member of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society; Ms Emile Amin Ghoury, board secretary of the Orthodox Educational Society of Jordan; Mr. Michael F. Al-Sayegh and Mr. Bassem Fuad Ferradj, members of the Orthodox Central Council of Jordan and Palestine; and representatives of the Jordan Orthodox Club and the Al-Nahda Arab Orthodox Society.
