Patriarch Kirill’s condolences over the death of the head of the Armenian Catholic Church
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent the following message of condolences over the death of the head of the Armenian Catholic Church, His Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch Nerses Petros XIX:
To the Holy Synod of the Armenian Catholic Church
Dear Brothers in Christ,
I would like to extend to you and all the faithful of the Armenian Catholic Church my condolences over the death of His Beatitude Catholic-Patriarch Nerses Petros XIX.
Having dedicated his life to pastoral work since his youth, His Beatitude remained faithful to this calling to the end. He strongly felt for the tragedy of Christians in the Middle East and exerted every effort to help restore peace and good-neighbourly relations in the old biblical land.
I remember my meeting with Patriarch Nerses in last April in Moscow, during which he shared with me his heartfelt pain and spoke about the need for all Christians to unite for the sake of saving our suffering brothers.
Sharing the feeling of Armenian Catholic Church and her flock, I would like to extend to all of you my sincere sympathy over your grave loss.
With love in Christ and profound condolences,
+ KIRILL
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
