Patriarch Kirill meets with Palestinian ambassador to Russia
May 25, 2015 – His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, met with the Palestinian Ambassador to Russia, H. E. Fayed Mustafa.
Present at the meeting from the Russian Orthodox Church were Archbishop Mark of Yegoryevsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate financial and economic administration and the Moscow Patriarchate office for institutions abroad, and Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), vice-chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations.
Participating in the meeting was also Mr. Khaled Miari, envoy of the Palestinian embassy in Russia.
Welcoming his guest, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church said that Russia is a dear country for Mr. Mustafa as he studied and worked in it, knows Moscow well and has a good command of the Russian language. ‘You have done much to promote the interests of the Palestinian State and to strengthen relations between Palestine and Russia. The Russian Orthodox Church appreciates your work’, he said.
His Holiness also noted that he had already had five meetings with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, adding, ‘This fact shows that we have a serious agenda for discussion as well as very good personal relations which you promote’.
The sides discussed a number of matters of mutual concern.
