On 21 April 2015, a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church led by Metropolitan Varsonofiy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, arrived in Yerevan to participate in the events commemorating the Armenian Genocide centennial. The visit is paid at the invitation of His Holiness Supreme Catholicos-Patriarch of All Armenians, Karekin II, and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The delegation includes archpriest Sergy Sudakov, chairman of the Finance and Economics Department of the St. Petersburg diocese; hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations; and P. Yermoshkin, assistant to the Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate.

During the visit that will last till April 24, the Russian Orthodox Church’s delegation will take part in the ‘Church against Genocide’ forum and in the official ceremony at the Memorial of the Armenian Genocide victims. The delegation will visit Etchmiadzin where the Armenian Apostolic Church will canonize its innocent faithful killed during the years of persecution.
