Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk celebrates Pascha at the Church of the ‘Joy of All Who Sorrow’ Icon of the Mother of God in Bolshaya Ordynka Street in Moscow
On the night of 12 April 2015, the feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk celebrated Midnight office, Paschal Matins, and the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom at the Church of the ‘Joy of All Who Sorrow’ Icon of the Mother of God in Bolshaya Ordynka Street in Moscow. Concelebrating with the archpastor were clerics of the church.
The Moscow Synodal Choir conducted by Mr. Alexei Puzakov, honoured artist of Russia, sang festive hymns during the Divine Services.
At midnight the archpastor, clerics and parishioners went by a procession of the cross around the church.
During Paschal Matins Metropolitan Hilarion read out Paschal Homily by St John Chrysostom.
The Gospel at the Divine Liturgy was read in the Greek, Latin, Church Slavonic and Russian languages.
After the communion verse, hegumen Filaret (Tambovsky), a cleric of the church, read out the Paschal Message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the archpastors, pastors, monastics and all the faithful children of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Metropolitan Hilarion blessed the Artos after the prayer before the ambo.
