Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk greets heads of non-Orthodox Churches with the feast of Christ’s Resurrection
Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent the following Paschal greeting to Pope Francis, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos Karekin II of All Armenians, Archbishop Justin Welby of Canterbury, Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, chairman of the EKD Council, and heads of other non-Orthodox Churches:
Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the radiant feast of Christ’s Passover:
Christ is risen!
On this day the soul of each Christian is filled with joy and the saving recollection of the redemptive sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. In trampling down death, Christ creates a holy people called to inherit the Kingdom of God.
Today, when the modern world is trying to shake the foundations of the Christian faith, it is especially important to remember that ‘God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him’ (1 John 4:16).
I wish you radiant joy in the Saviour who has risen from the dead, peace, good health and the abundant aid of God in your lofty ministry. May our hope in God not weaken, and may our assurance in the ultimate triumph of peace, righteousness and justice grow ever stronger.
With love in the risen Lord,
/+Hilarion/
Metropolitan of Volokolamsk
