On 20 March 2015, a meeting was held at the House of the Government of the Russian Federation, dedicated to the preparation of events marking the millennium of the demise of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Vladimir the Baptizer of Russia and the celebration of the Day of Slavonic Literature and Culture in 2015. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Olga Golodets, Deputy Chair of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Representing the Russian Orthodox Church at the meeting were Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, head of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Organizing Committee for celebration of the millennium of St. Vladimir’s demise; Archimandrite Tikhon (Shevkunov), abbot of the stavropegic Sretensky Monastery, executive secretary of the Patriarchal Council for Culture; Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, DECR vice-chairman; and Archpriest Andrei Milkin, head of the Protocol Service of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

Also taking part in the meeting were Mr. Alexander Beglov, head of the Presidential working group for preparation of the events dedicated to the commemoration of St. Vladimir and Presidential Envoy to the Central Federal District; Mr. Veniamin Kaganov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation; Ms. Elena Milovzorova, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation; Mr. Alexander Kibovsky, head of the Moscow Department of Culture; Mr. Vladimir Chernikov, head of the Moscow Department of National Policy, Interregional Relations and Tourism; Mr. Sergei Obryvalin, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation; and others.

The participants in the meeting discussed various issues pertaining to the preparation of the festive events.
