DECR to hold round table on domestic violence
On January 22, 2015, the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate will hold a round table on ‘The Church and the Problem of Domestic Violence’ as part of the 23d International Christmas Readings.
The round table will be chaired by Bishop Savva of Voskresensk. It will deal with such topics as theological understanding of the problem of family violence, possible forms of the Church’s participation in combating it, ways of cooperation in this endeavour with public and governmental organization. Participants will share their experience of work with troubled families, aid to victims of abuse and prevention work with the youth.
The round table will be attended by representatives of various dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church, other religious communities and members of governmental, international and public organizations. The event will be coordinated by Ms M. Nelyubova, DECR.
The event will last from 14:00 to 17:00.
