DECR chairman expresses condolences to Dr. Agnes Abuom, moderator of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches, over the demise of her spouse

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent a message to Dr. Agnes Abuom, moderator of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches, in which he expressed his condolences over the demise of her husband. The text of the message is given below.

Dear Sister in Christ,

I was grieved to learn about the demise of your spouse who had died on 7 July 2014, while the WCC Central Committee was holding its session.

On my behalf and on behalf of the members of the Central Committee, representing the Russian Orthodox Church, I wholeheartedly express to you our sincere condolences over the bereavement. May the Lord strengthen you in this ordeal and help you overcome the sorrow.

I pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased in the dwellings of the righteous. Eternal memory be to him!
