Metropolitan Hilarion’s film “Orthodoxy in the British Islands” to premiere on Kultura TV channel
The documentary “Orthodoxy in the British Islands” will premiere at 22:05 on June 18, 2014, on the Rossiya-Kultura TV channel. The author of the film is Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, its producer Valeriy Shekhovtsev.
Coming out in the Russia/UK Year of Culture, this film recounts the history of Orthodoxy in the British Islands, conversion of the archipelago’s peoples to Christianity, development of Christian churches there before the division between East and West and today’s state of the Orthodox Church in Great Britain.
Featuring in the documentary are bishops, parish priests as well as ordinary parishioners including native Britons on their difficult path back to their spiritual sources, which is Orthodoxy.
An important place is given in the project to modern theologians and devotees given to Orthodoxy by Britain, such as Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh, Archimandrite Sophrony Sakharov, Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) of Diokletia.
The film has been produced by the St. Gregory the Theologian Charity with the support of the Federal Agency for the Press and Mass Communications.
