Russian Orthodox Church aids flood victims in Serbia
On 22 May 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia received a delegation of the Moscow Patriarchate Synodal Department for Charity and Social Ministry that brought humanitarian aid for victims of the catastrophic flood. The aid was raised with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
Taking part bin the meeting were Bishop Antonije of Moravica, rector of the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow, and archpriest Vitaly Tarasjev, rector of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade.
The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church expressed gratitude to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and to all Russian people for assistance and prayers.
The Russian Orthodox Church delegation arrived in Serbia on May 20. Its members, together with the staff of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations involved in flood relief are visiting the inundated areas and meet with common people and clergymen.
Food, clothes and hygiene products brought by the delegation will be distributed among people living in the territory of the Diocese of Valjevo of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
