Metropolitan Hilarion, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent the following greeting to His Beatitude Archbishop Hieronymus II of Athens and All Greece with the anniversary of his primatial ministry:

Your Beatitude:

Please accept my cordial greetings with the sixth anniversary of Your primatial ministry in the Orthodox Church of Greece.

Spiritual ties between the Greek and Russian people of the same faith are centuries long. The years of Your primatial ministry have been marked by the intensification of bilateral relations between our Churches so that ‘the members may have the same care for one another’ (1Cor 12:25). The visit His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia paid to Greece last year has become an important landmark in the strengthening of fraternal relations between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Orthodox Church of Greece headed by Your Beatitude. We hope that Your Beatitude’s upcoming visit will serve the same goal.

On this day, festive for the Archdiocese of Athens and for the entire Church of Greece, I prayerfully wish Your Beatitude spiritual and physical strength and God’s abundant help in Your primatial ministry.

With respect and love in the Lord,

+ Hilarion

Metropolitan of Volokolamsk
