The DECR chairman, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, expressed condolences to H.E. Jejomar Binay, Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, over natural disaster that claimed the lives of the thousands.

Your Excellency, dear Mr. Vice President:

Please accept my profound condolences over natural disaster that has hit the Philippines. The strong typhoon has taken a heavy toll of thousands of human lives and left even more without shelter.

I sympathize with the authorities of the country and all people of the Philippines in their great grief and pray for the strengthening of the relatives and friends of the victims, the soonest recovery of the injured, and for granting courage to all those who have suffered. Please convey to them my sincere words of consolation and support.
