On 10-11 October 2013, the Ss Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute for Post-Graduate and Doctoral Studies, with the assistance of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Moscow State University and the Meta Charity Foundation, holds the First Scholarly and Theological Conference on Patristic Studies in Moscow, dedicated to the theme “St Isaac the Syrian and His Spiritual Heritage.”

Among its participants are leading specialists in Syriac patristics and oriental studies from Russia, Western Europe, North America and the Middle East. Invited to the Conference are eminent scholars studying the works of St Isaac the Syrian: Sebastian Brock (Great Britain), Martin Tamke (Germany), Sabino Chialà (Italy), Marcel Pirard (France). Also taking part in the Conference will be Christian hierarchs from Syria.

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, rector of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute for Post-Graduate and Doctoral Studies, author of the book “The Spiritual World of Isaac the Syrian”, will open the Conference.
