Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk meets with Professor Adriano Roccucci

On 15 July 2013, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), met with Prof. Adriano Roccucci, general secretary of the Community of Sant’Egidio. The meeting took place at the DECR premises.

Metropolitan Hilarion expressed his appreciation of fruitful cooperation the Community of Sant’Egidio and the Russian Orthodox Church have maintained for many years and noted in particular the importance of joint initiatives in witnessing about traditional Christian values in the present-day Europe.

Professor Roccucci underscored the importance of the participation of official representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church in international meeting organized annually by the Community of Sant’Egidio.

The participants in the meeting discussed possible joint projects in protection of the family and in theological education.

Taking part in the meeting were also archpriest Dimitry Sizonenko, DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, and Mr. Alessandro Salacone, a member of the Community of St. Egidio.
