Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia retires
On April 12, 2013, the Moscow Patriarchate received an official report about a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, which took place on the same day.
It was reported that His Beatitude Christopher, Archbishop of Prague and Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, during that meeting, handed in a petition asking to discharge him from his office. The petition was granted.
His Beatitude was given the title of Emeritus Archbishop of Prague and Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. He is to reside in the Monastery of the Holy Transfiguration in Tasov.
Archbishop Simeon of Olomouc and Brno, the eldest archpastor of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, was elected Locum Tenens of the throne.
