Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, offered his condolences to the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt over the bus crash in the south of Egypt occurred on 17 November 2012. A school bus, carrying about 60 children between four and six years old, was hit by a train on a rail crossing near Manfalut in the Asyut Governorate. The text is given below.

Your Excellency:

It was with a feeling of deep sympathy that I have learnt about the bus crash in the south of Egypt that killed and injured many people, mostly children. I offer my condolences to you and to all people of Egypt.

I express my sincere support to the parents who had lost their children and all those who had lost their near and dear in this tragedy.

I hope that the Egyptian physicians and rescuers will do anything possible to alleviate suffering of the injured and render them all necessary medical and psychological aid.
