On 1 November 2012, Metropolitan Hilarion, the DECR chairman, currently on a working visit to the USA with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, visited the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and met with its head, Archbishop Demetrios of America.

Taking part in the meeting were Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk and Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Bishop Antonios of Phasiane.

Metropolitan Hilarion expressed his sympathy to Archbishop Demetrios over the hurricane that affected many people, including Orthodox Christians living near the shore.

Discussed was the current situation of Orthodoxy in America and of the Orthodox Church in America in particular. As well as relations between the Orthodox Church and those representatives of the Anglican Community who strive to preserve their faithfulness to Christian moral teaching.
