On 1 November 2012, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, met with the leaders of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary of the Orthodox Church in America. As the hurricane affected campus and electricity and heating system have been disconnected, the talk took place in a hotel in New York.

Taking part in the meeting were archpriest John Behr, dean of the Seminary, archpriest Chad Hatfield, chancellor, the Very Rev. Prof. Alexander Rentel, and Leon Laisang, a member of the Seminary’s Board of Trustees.

They discussed the development of the seminary and exchange of students between the seminary and theological schools of the Russian Orthodox Church.

That same day Metropolitan Hilarion and his suite departed for Moscow. They were seen off at the airport by Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk, administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA, and clerics of the Patriarchal parishes.
