DECR chairman expresses condolences over the death of one of the oldest hierarchs of the Church of Jerusalem, Metropolitan Iakovos of Scythopolis

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, sent to His Beatitude Theophilus, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, the following message of condolences over the death of His Eminence Iakovos, Metropolitan of Scythopolis:

Your Beatitude,

Please accept my sincere condolences over the demise of His Eminence Iakovos, Metropolitan of Scythopolis, one of the oldest hierarchs of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem.

Having accepted the good yoke of Christ since his youth, His Eminence Iakovos dedicated his whole life to the service of God and His holy Church and made his own contribution to the assertion of Orthodoxy in the Holy Land.

May the Lord give rest to the soul of His late servant in the mansions of the righteous and rank him among His elected.
