An Orthodox missionary delegation from the USA visits Mongolia
An Orthodox missionary delegation from the USA was on a visit to the Parish of the Holy Trinity in Ulan Bator from June 7 to 19, 2012. The trip was made along the line of cooperation between the parish and the Orthodox Church Missionary Center in Miami (OCMC). Contacts with this organization were established with the blessing of the director of the Moscow Patriarchate office for institutions abroad, Archbishop Mark of Yegorievsk, the Parish of the Holy Trinity website in Ulan Bator has reported.
The program of cooperation includes short-term and long-tern programs called to promote the work of the parish to preach Orthodoxy in Mongolia and to carry out educational work among both expatriates and locals.
The American delegation led by Archpriest Brenden Palfrey consisted of seven representatives of the Church of Constantinople and the Church of Antioch, as well as the Orthodox Church in America. The group visited cultural and historical sights in Ulan Bator met with Russian and Mongolian Orthodox parishioners, representatives of the Buddhist clergy, students of Mongolian universities and started studying the basics of the Mongolian language. The translation and teaching of Mongolian were done by the administrator of the parish Nikolay Dashbazarov and the parish interpreter Mashbat Amina.
