Metropolitan Hilarion attends reception given on behalf of Austria’s Chancellor Werner Feynman

On December 6, 2011, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, who has led to Vienna a Russian Orthodox delegation to the interreligious conference on Family in Crisis, attended a reception given on behalf of the Chancellor of Austria Werner Feynman.

Among those present were a delegation of the Roman Catholic Church in Austria led Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn, Archbishop of Vienna, a delegation of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation led by Rabbi Arthur Schneier, and a delegation of European Rabbis led by Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt.

Welcoming the guests, the chancellor underscored the importance of interreligious dialogue. The conference taking place in Vienna is of a great importance, he said, noting that the forum is attended by representative delegations.

Metropolitan Hilarion, on his part, thanked Mr. Feynman for the opportunity to meet and expressed hope for consolidation of relations between the Moscow Patriarchate and Austrian authorities.
