On November 5, 2011, President Dmitry Medvedev visited the 10th Church-Public Exhibition-Forum ‘Orthodox Rus’ – Towards the Day of the People’s Unity’.

The exhibition is timed to the two holidays celebrated on November the 4th in Russia: the public Day of the People’s Unity and the church Day of the Icon of Our Lady of Kazan. The exhibition-forum is the central event in the People’s Unity celebrations and the largest church-public project in Russia. This year, the theme of the exhibition is ‘The Russian Orthodox Church: Summing up the Two Decades from 1991 to 2011’.

The head of the state was met by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia at the miracle-working Icon of Our Lady of Tikhvin.

The president and the patriarch venerated the shrine and inspected the exhibition. They visited in particular the gallery on ‘The history of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Soviet Period – Russia’s New Martyrs and Confessors’, and the stands on the themes ‘Russian Patriarchal Office’, ‘The Russian Orthodox Church – Administrative Structure’, ‘The 200-Churches Program for Moscow’, as well as the stand of the Sofrino art production factory. They also saw the interactive map ‘The Russian Orthodox Church in the World’.

President Medvedev and Patriarch Kirill also visited the children’s charity fair.
