The World Coordinating Council of Russian Expatriates (WCCRE) met on September 19-20, 2011, in Strasbourg. The meeting was attended by some 30 members of the WCCRE from European countries, the USA, Asia and Australia. Among them was Archpriest Mikhail Dudko, a WCCRE member, sacristan of the Cathedral of the Assumption in London, the ROC Strasbourg Representation has reported.

During their stay in the European capital, the WCCRE members met with representatives of various units of the Council of Europe, the Strasbourg municipal authorities and leaders of the expatriate organizations residing in Alsace.

On September 20, the council was addressed by Hegumen Philip (Riabykh) ROC Representative to the Council of Europe and rector of the Parish of All Saints in Strasbourg. He spoke on the human rights work carried out by Russian expatriates in Strasbourg.

The WCCRE was formed in May 1999 in accordance with the Federal Law on the State Policy of the Russian Federation with Regard to Compatriots Abroad’. The council coordinates the work of international and national associations of Russian expatriates and ensures their representation at the governmental bodies in the period between world congresses and conferences. The WCCRE meets twice or thrice a year.
