New Russian ambassador to Israel visits Russian Ecclesiastical Mission

On September 21, 2011, new Russian ambassador to Israel Mr. S. Yakovlev visited the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem.

His introduction to the Mission began with the Cathedral of the Trinity where he was welcomed by the Mission’s head, Archimandrite Isidore (Minaev), the clergy of the Mission and the mother superior of the Gorneye Convent, Hegumenia Georgia, with sisters.

Archimandrite Isidore explained the guest the history and work of the Mission and wished him God’s help and success in his work in Israel, the website of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem has reported.

Before his new appointment, Mr. Yakovlev served as Russian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, and since 2006 he was an ambassador at large.
