On September 13, 2011, the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem was honoured with a visit of Mr. Vershinin, director of the Middle East and Northern Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. He was accompanied by Mr. A. Rudakov, Russian Federation representative to the Palestinian National Autonomy, Mr. A. Yurkov, Russian first deputy ambassador to Israel, and several staff members of the Middle East and Northern Africa Department, the website of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem has reported.

In the church of the Holy Martyr Alexandra, the guests were received by Hegumen Feofan (Lukyanov), deputy head of the Mission, and Hieromonk Anthony (Gutnik), secretary of the Mission.

Mr. Vershinin was introduced to the history of the Russian presence in the Holy Land and today’s life of the Russian Orthodox Mission.
