Metropolitan Hilarion meets with Patriarch Daniel of Romania
On July 19, 2011, during his working trip to the Romanian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, paid a visit to His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania. His Holiness received the DECR chairman in audience in his office at the patriarchate.
Participating in the meeting were also Bishop Cyprian, Patriarchal auxiliary bishop, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations, Archpriest Michael Tica, Romanian Patriarchate secretary for external relations, and Deacon Eugene Rogoti, a Romanian Patriarchate staff member.
During their talk, which lasted over two hours, Patriarch Daniel and Metropolitan Daniel exchanged opinions on pressing problems of inter-Orthodox cooperation and discussed the bilateral relations between the Russian and Romanian Orthodox Churches.
In conclusion of the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion congratulated Patriarch Daniel on his 60th birthday and presented him on the occasion with a pectoral icon with a commemorative inscription and a copy of his book The Spiritual World of St. Isaac the Syrian in Romanian.
