The Working Group for Cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and Russia’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs met on June 28, 2011, at the ministry’s Small Mansion in Moscow.

The meeting was opened by the co-chairmen of the Working Group, State Secretary G. Karasin, deputy foreign minister, and Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations.

The participants discussed the problem of moral dimension in international relations as a follow-up of the meeting His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia had with the Ministry Board on December 29, 2010.

The sides shared their understanding of the place and role of moral norms in international relations today. It was deemed important to take into account the spiritual and cultural heritage of Orthodoxy and other traditional religions in Russia in the further development of this topic.
