Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, will visit the Republic of Paraguay from July 1 to 3, 2011, on the invitation of the Paraguayan government and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The visit is planned to coincide with the celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of Paraguay those history bears a noticeable imprint left by comers from countries of the Russian World.

The program of the visit includes Metropolitan Hilarion’s meeting with political leaders and high-ranking hierarchs of the Catholic Church in Paraguay. His Eminence Hilarion is expected to celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the church of the Protecting Veil (Russian Church Outside Russia), to say the lity for the dead in memory of the Russian White emigrants buried in the Pantheon of the Heroes in Asuncion and to speak at the Catholic University.
