The Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy opened its 18th session on 21 June 2011, in Paris. Its theme is ‘Religious Values in a World of Economic Crisis’. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent a message of greetings to the Assembly.

The Assembly is attended by parliamentary delegations from the member states of Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine, as well as deputies’ groups from Australia, USA and several countries in Asia and Africa.

The Russian Orthodox Church is represented at the event by Bishop Nestor of Korsun and Rev. Andrey Yeliseyev, secretary of the Moscow Patriarchate representation to the European international organizations.

The Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy (IAO) is an organization established on the initiative of the Greek Parliament. Mr. A. Popov, chairman of Russia’s State Duma committee for public and religious organizations, has been the IAO president since 2004.
