Metropolitan Hilarion meets with Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria
On 16 May 2011, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), met with H.E. Yu. Isakov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Bulgaria.
They were joined in the meeting, which took place at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sofia, by archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for Inter-Orthodox Relations; acting treasurer of the Sofia Metochion of the Moscow Patriarchate, hieromonk Zotik (Gayevsky); hierodeacon Ioann (Kopeikin), assistant to the DECR chairman; and staff of the Embassy.
Participants in the meeting discussed cooperation of the DECR and the Russian diplomatic representation in Bulgaria and shared their views on the preparation of the Days of Russian spiritual culture in Bulgaria due to take place this year.
