His Holiness Patriarch Kirill celebrates Divine Liturgy in the Laura of the Caves in Kiev on Bright Wednesday
On 27 April 2011, Bright Wednesday, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine together with the assembly of hierarchs and cleric from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Laura of the Caves in Kiev.
The Liturgy was celebrated on the altar under the canopy set in the square before the cathedral of the Dormition.
The choirs of the Kiev Metropolia, the Kiev and St. Petersburg Theological Academies sang during the divine service that was broadcast on the website of the Laura.
After the liturgy, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church addressed the worshippers and greeted the abbot of the Laura, Archbishop Pavel of Vyshgorod, whom he awarded with the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov, 1st class, in consideration of his zealous archpastoral work and in connection with his 50th birthday.
Metropolitan Antoniy of Khmelnitsky and Starokonstantinov was awarded with the Order of St. Daniel of Moscow, 2nd class, in consideration of his zealous archpastoral work and in connection with his 65th birthday and the 35th anniversary of his ordination.
Bishop Sofroniy of Mogilev and Mstislavl was awarded with the Order of St. Sergius of Radonezh in consideration of his zealous archpastoral work and in connection with his 60th birthday.
