On 10 April 2011, His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece and Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk attended a concert of Russian religious music at the Palace of Music in the capital of Greece.

The Radio and TV Symphony Orchestra of Greece and the Moscow Synodal Choir performed Metropolitan Hilarion’s ‘St. Matthew Passion’ Oratorio.

Metropolitans Chrysostomos of Messinia, Ambrosios of Kalavryta and Chrysostomos of Zákynthos, Bishops Prokopios of Nazianzos (Patriarchate of Constantinople), clerics of the Orthodox Church of Greece, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Greek Republic Vladimir Chkhikbishvili, deputy of State Duma of the Russian Federation I. Savvidi, and representatives of state authorities and public circles were among the two-thousand strong audience.

After the concert Metropolitan Hilarion bid farewell to His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos and went to the airport accompanied by protosingel of the Archbishopric of Athens archimandrite Gabriel and clerics of the Orthodox Church of Greece. Metropolitan Hilarion left Athens for London to present the English edition of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill’s book, “Freedom and Responsibility. A Search for Harmony – Human Rights and Personal Dignity.”
