Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk receives a delegation of the Georgian Orthodox Church

On March 2, 2011, DECR chairman, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, met with a delegation of the Georgian Orthodox Church led by Metropolitan Gerasime of Zugdidi and Tsaishi, head of the Patriarchate of Georgia’s foreign office. The delegation included Archimandrite David Chincharauli, Archpriest George Kharazashvili, and Mr. Z. Abashidze.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, they discussed the further development of bilateral relations between the Russian and Georgian Orthodox Churches.

Participating in the meeting were also Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, vice-chairman of the department for external church relations, Archimandrite Vakhtang Liparteliani of the church of St. George in Moscow, and Rev. Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations.
