On 24 January 2011, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, met with Zurab K. Tsereteli, People’s Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, at the Zurab Tsereteli Art Galley at the Dolgorukovs’ House in Moscow. The exhibition complex, one of the major art centres in Russia, was opened in March 2001 on a charitable cultural initiative of the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Zurab Tsereteli. His other initiatives include the establishment of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the restoration of historical buildings of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.

Metropolitan Hilarion was accompanied by archimandrite Tikhon (Shevkunov), secretary of the Patriarchal Council for Culture. Zurab Tsereteli showed them the gallery, displayed at which are exhibits on the Old and New Testaments, paintings, and a series of “My contemporaries” high relieves.
