On 13 December 2010, His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the “Life-Giving Fount” Icon of the Mother of God at the Intercession Monastery at the Goloseyevo district of Kiev. Concelebrating with the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were Bishops Ilariy of Makarov and Aleksandr of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and the ordained monks.

After the Liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir greeted the worshippers with the commemoration day of St. Andrew, saying, “May the Lord, through the prayers of St. Andrew the-First-Called, always help us to keep our Orthodox faith and to bring witness of Christ the Saviour not only by words, but also by our lives.”

After the divine service, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church prayed for the rest of the soul of nun Alipia (Avdeyeva) who lived at the place at which the monastery has been revived.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine delivered the Orders of St. Dimitry of Rostov to members of “The Karamazov Brothers” rock band that marks its 20th anniversary this year, press service of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.

The rock band headed by its leader Oleg Krivosheja have assisted the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for many years in many ways, including restoration of the Goloseyevo Monastery. In 2008, the band toured 26 cities of Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir. The tour, during which the band gave charity concerts, was held to mark the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia.
