On 1 November 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Trinity in the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius in concelebration with Archbishop Yevgeny of Vereya, chairman of the Education Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church; Archbishop Feognost of Sergiev Posad, abbot of the Laura; brethren of the Laura, and ordained staff members of the DECR.

At the dismissal, Metropolitan Hilarion addressed the worshippers with a sermon on the mystery of the two natures of Christ – divine and human.

On October 31, Metropolitan Hilarion tonsured Rev. Ioann Guaita, a staff member of the DECR secretariat for interchristian relations.
