On 21 October 2010, the DECR chairman, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, arrived in the Russian Monastery of St. Panteleimon. The pilgrims groups also includes Archbishop Feognost of Sergiev Posad, chairman of the Synodal Commission o n Monasteries; Archbishop Antony of Borispol, rector of the Kiev Theological Academy and Seminary; Bishop Feofilakt of Bryansk and Sevsk; DECR staff members; and clerics and laymen of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The brethren met Metropolitan Hilarion at the monastery’s quay. The hegumen warmly welcomed a high-level delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church, expressing his joy over forthcoming common prayers with dear guests. After the repast, the guests venerated holy sites of the monastery; the DECR chairman met with archimandrite Jeremiah and hieromonk Macarius, hegumen and father confessor of the monastery respectively.

The group of pilgrims led by Metropolitan Hilarion visited the monastery’s mill where St. Silouan the Athonite lived and performed his monastic deeds. Later in the day, pilgrims prayed at Lesser Compline at the main cathedral of the monastery together with the brethren.
