On 3 October 2010, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej received a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church consisting of Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR); archpriest Nikolai Balashov, DECR deputy chairman; archpriest Vitaly Tarasjev, rector of the metochion of the Moscow Patriarchate in Belgrade; and the Rev. Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations.

Metropolitan Hilarion conveyed heartfelt greetings from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Participants in the meeting discussed prospects of fraternal cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Serbian Orthodox Church, and aspects of inter-Orthodox relations of mutual interest.

Taking part in the meeting were also Metropolitan Amphilohije of Crna Gora and Primorje; Bishop Anthony of Moravici, representative of the Patriarch of Serbia to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; the first deputy chairman of the Russian Council of Federation A. Torshin; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Serbia A. Konuzin; and staff members of the Russian Embassy and chancellory in Priština.
