Metropolitan Hilarion attends the Annual Nicean Club Dinner
On 9 September 2010, an annual dinner of the Nicean Club tool place at the Grand Hall of the Lambeth Palace.
Every year, the Archbishop of Canterbury invites renowned hierarchs, theologians and public figures to address members of the Club. This year the Archbishop did Metropolitan Hilarion the honour of delivering an address. Attending the dinner were 129 members and guests of the Club, including Archbishop Yelisei of Sourozh, representative of the Church of England to Moscow, the Revd. Canon Simon Stephens, bishops and clerics of the Church of England, and representatives of aristocracy and public circles of Great Britain.
After welcoming words of Archbishop Rowan Williams, Metropolitan Hilarion delivered his address (see New Documents).
Metropolitan Hilarion presented Archbishop Rowan Williams a pectoral cross made in the workshops of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The Archbishop of Canterbury raised his glass to the health of the Queen, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, and prosperity of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The president of the Nicean Club, Dame Rosemary Spencer thanked Metropolitan Hilarion for his courageous witnessing about the truth of Orthodoxy at the present crucial time.
