On Synaxis of Moscow Saints Day, Primates of Alexandrian and Russian Churches celebrate Divine Liturgy at Church of Christ the Saviour
On September 5, 2010, the Day of the Synaxis of Moscow Saints, His Beatitude Theodore II, Patriarch of Alexandria and All African and His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral Church of Christ the Saviour.
The Primates of the two Churches were assisted by an assembly of bishops and priests. During the service, Archimandrite Nestor Sirotenko was consecrated Bishop of Kaffa, vicar of the diocese of Korsun.
The service was attended by Russian Minister of Culture, A. Avdeyev, former Russian Foreign Minister I. Ivanov, as well as numerous lay people from the diocese of Korsun who came from France.
Patriarch Kirill also said a prayer for the repose of the soul of Metropolitan Nikodim Rotov, who died on September 5, 1978.
In conclusion, Patriarchs Kirill and Theodore exchanged speeches of greetings.
