His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent a message of greetings to the abbot of the Russian Monastery of St. Panteleimon on the occasion of its patron saint’s day

To the Very Reverend Archimandrite Jeremiah

Abbot of the Russian Monastery of St. Panteleimon

Holy Mount Athos

Very Reverend Father, all-honorable Archimandrite Jeremiah:

On the commemoration day of the great man of God, the holy protomartyr and healer Panteleimon, the heavenly patron of the holy monastery entrusted to your care, I would like to cordially greet you and all the brethren of the Russian Monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos.

Great love for the holy protomartyr and veneration of his feat throughout Orthodoxy and especially in the Russian Orthodox Church make the present celebrations a truly church-wide event. God has shown special mercy for the Russian monastery on Mount Athos which has preserved for centuries a great treasure, the honorable and miracle-working Icon of the Holy Healer Panteleimon.

Sharing with you the joy of today’s feast, I pray to all-merciful God that He may strengthen the Russian Athonite monastic community in their feat of patience and obedience to the abbot, in their prayer for peace and for their beloved Orthodox Church, in their love for one another and in their hospitality towards pilgrims. I wish you, all-honorable Father Jeremiah, physical and spiritual strength from the Lord for many good years.

Invoking God’s blessing upon you,

KIRILL,

PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
