On 18 July 2010, the commemoration day of St. Sergius, Hegumen of Radonezh, The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Dormition in the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius, press service of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia reports.

Concelebrating with His Holiness were Metropolitans Platon of Argentina and South America, Iov of Chelyabinsk and Zlatoust; Varnava of Cheboksary and Chuvashia, Mefodiy of Perm and Solikamsk, Onufriy of Chernovtsy and Bukovina, Amphilochios of Kisamon and Selinon (Patriarchate of Constantinople); Archbishops Nifon of Philippopolis (Patriarchate of Antioch), Prokl of Simbirsk and Melekess, Arseny of Istra, Elevferiy of Chimkent and Akmolinsk, Sergy of Ternopol and Kremenets, Pavel of Ryazan and Kasimov, Zosima of Elista and Kalmykia, Feognost of Sergiev Posad, abbot of the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius; Bishops Evtikhiy of Domodedovo, Anatoly of Kagul and Komrat, Aleksandr of Baku and Caspian region, Merkury of Zaraisk, chairman of the Department for religious education and catechization of the Russian Orthodox Church, Aleksandr of Dmitrov, Irinarkh of Krasnogorsk, Ignaty of Bronnitsy, Nikon of Lipetsk and Yelets, Aristarkh of Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk, Feofilakt of Smolensk and Vyazma, Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk, head of the Administrative secretariat of the Moscow Patriarchate, Tikhon of Podolsk, chairman of the Finance and Economic Management of the Moscow Patriarchate, Kliment of Ruzayevka; archpriest Vladimir Divakov, Patriarch’s secretary for Moscow, archpriest Dmitry Smirnov, chairman of the Synodal Department for Relations with the Army and Law Enforcement Agencies; hieromonk Panteleimon (Shatov), chairman of the Synodal Department for  Church Charity and Social Ministry, and archpriest Vladimir Vorobyov, rector of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Humanitarian University.

Praying also were the Procurator General of the Russian Federation Yu. Chaika, head of the Sergiev Posad municipal district V. Korotkov, and Sergiev Posad Mayor N. Maslov.

At the Lesser Entrance, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church elevated hieromonk Panteleimon (Shatov) to the rank of archimandrite.

After the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill led procession with the cross and celebrated a prayer service (moleben) at the Cathedrals Square in front of the venerated icon of St. Sergius of Radonezh. Concelebrating were Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna; Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Saransk and Mordovia, Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations; and hierarchs who celebrated the Divine Liturgy in all churches of the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius.

After the moleben, His Holiness the Patriarch addressed his primatial homily to the participants in the celebrations in commemoration of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
