St. Tikhon Orthodox Humanitarian University students to take practical training at Russian parishes in Thailand
With the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, a group of four women students of the St. Tikhon Orthodox Humanitarian University department of mission, will take summer practical training in Thailand for a month beginning from July 9, 2010.
Archimandrite Oleg Cherepanin, Russian Orthodox Church representative in Thailand, during a joint meeting of the Orthodox Foundation committee in Thailand and the parish council of the church of All Saints in Pattaya, said he welcomed the coming of Russian students and promised to introduce them to the specifics of work to be taken into account by Orthodox parishes in a country with a completely different religious and cultural tradition. According to the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand, the students will stay most of the time in Pattaya, where they will participate in the worship life of the church of All Saints and carry out other church tasks.
