On 31 May 2010, the 1st Trinity Youth Forum was opened at the Russian State Social University. The forum is sponsored by the Fellowship of Orthodox workers of culture, science, and education upon the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The task of the forum is to support the youth capable of generating, promoting, and implementing new ideas and projects in science, technology, economics, and culture that would combine efficiency with moral responsibility.

Taking part in the forum were representatives of the Synodal departments on Church-Society Relations and on Relations with the Army and Law Enforcement agencies, Youth department, Patriarchal Centre for Religious Education of Children and Youth, State Duma Committee on Public Associations and Religious Organizations, Peter the Great Military Academy of Strategic Missile Forces, Moscow State Regional University, St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University, Iliya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, “Our Children” Foundation, “Vverkh” magazine, faculty and students of the Moscow higher education institutions.

A plenary session and round tables took place discussed at which were Orthodox education and upbringing, the strengthening of moral foundations of life, revival of the family, patriotic education of the youth, cooperation between the Church and the state in public life, the problems of science and culture in the light of Orthodox world outlook, as well as particular features of the work with the youth.

Archpriest Dmitry Smirnov, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Relations with the Army and Law Enforcement Agencies greeted the participants and presented a report on family values.

Dr. V. Katasonov, professor of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University and of the Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Scholl presented the key report on “Religion and the 21st Century.”

Greeting of S. Popov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Public Associations and Religious Organizations was read out at the plenary session.
